:The Wherefore
In most of the Fallouts, we have this brick of a 10mm handgun that defies all logic, and it's been a long-time goal of mine to do something about it. The Smith & Wesson Model 5906 seemed like a good match, considering that it was a common law-enforcement gun, and it has a 10mm version. Mainly, though, i found the texture absolutely perfect for Fallout 3. Your ratings, comments, suggestions, and complaints are welcome.

:Implementation
This mod replaces the graphic for the 10mm Pistol and the Silenced 10mm Pistol with a Smith & Wesson Model 5906/1006 handgun, as well as changing the stats a little to reflect this change. The capacity is lowered to 9, to match that of the 10mm Model 1006, but the damage is increased from 9 to 13 (same as Col. Autumn's pistol). 10mm Auto is supposed to be powerful, after all. It comes in two varieties, weathered and clean. The weathered variant generally replaces the vanilla 10mm Pistol and Silenced 10mm Pistol, however the clean variant will usually spawn where a 10mm pistol would have 50% or greater condition. The clean variants are added to the 10mm Pistol repair list by script. For the basic version of this mod, i tried to avoid using the clean variant wherever it would be affected by scripts, quests, or dialog. In the "extended" version, i made it so that not only is the pistol given to you by Amata the clean variant, but it and all Vault-issue 10mm Pistols are suppressed. :What's new
Apr. 04; I have included a non-replacer as an optional file. The main file is still required, but just activate the new standalone ESP and not the others. This mostly puts the gun in areas where raiders might make use of them, but the special variants have been added to Flak 'N Shrapnel's, Lock and Load, and the slaver barracks (5th bed). I was a bit sparse on the unsuppressed, clean variant, but one of the more accessible ones is outside the house where you find Stabhappy. Or if you just want to use the console, the IDs are xx000800 (weathered), x000801 (weathered, suppressed), xx000802 (clean), and xx000803 (clean, suppressed).

:Installation
Unarchive all the files (except the readme) into [hard drive partition]\[program files folder]\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data (unless you have the Steam version; in that case i don't know exactly where it goes). In Fallout Mod Manager or the Fallout 3 launcher, activate the desired implementations of this mod. At the least, you must check either S&W 5906 10mm replacer.esp or S&W 5906 10mm replacer extended.esp, but not both (see "Implementation" above). If you have Operation Anchorage installed, check S&W 5906 DLC02 10mm replacer.esp in addition to either of the foregoing .esp:s.

The ID:s for the guns in this mod are as follows: 10mm Pistol (weathered): 434f, Silenced 10mm Pistol (weathered) 4350, 10mm Pistol (clean): xx000800, Silenced 10mm Pistol (clean) xx000801. If you prefer realistic names for your guns, i personally would go with "Model 1006 Pistol".
