About this mod

Reduces the amount of Gun Wielding Maniacs constantly trying to kill you, by turning them into Knife Wielding Maniacs

Permissions and credits
“We got guns. They got guns. All Gods’ children got guns.”

Does the above quote summarize your feelings on the Fallout 3 combat system? If you’re like me, and I know I am, you found your main weapon and back up weapon at level 3 and they’re both guns. You also have a melee weapon “in case you run out of ammo” though you’re not too sure that will ever happen. By level 5 you have several of each of your core weapons and a many many more you’ll probably never use. By level 10 trashcans and filing cabinets across the wasteland each house more guns than an Enclave armory, as you keep dumping all that extra weight. It would take week in real life to sell all the extra weapons and ammo filling up in your Megaton house. The first time you ever put skill points into Unarmed or Melee was at level 18 because you had all your other skills maxed. If this sounds like you, and you’re not happy about it, then this is for you.

Life in the Wasteland, is about to change.

I present for your consideration Savage Wasteland.

Description
Fewer Gun Wielding Maniacs
This mod reduces the amount of guns and ammo found in Fallout 3 by shifting the balance in NPC spawns from ranged combatants to melee/unarmed combatants. For the most part NPCs come in four varieties: Melee, Small Arms, Rifle and Big Guns. Each spawn point can generate one specific type or pick one at random. I have added a fifth type to most NPCs for Unarmed, I then altered the spawn lists so that no matter what class is called for there is always a chance to spawn an Unarmed or Melee NPC. How often the game will choose ranged over melee combat depends on the faction. Some factions will have more firepower than others and certain areas will be more heavily guarded despite the faction holding them. This mod does not remove or replace all of the hand placed items in the game.(But it's getting closer)

Savage Wasteland - Unfound Loot

Description
Unfound Loot
Did'ya ever wonder who leaves valuable items just laying around for you to find? If the wasteland were really a dog-eat-dog, brink-of-survival, dare I say "Savage" wasteland this stuff would be hard to come by. What this mod achives is random chances of finding the "hand placed" loot based on the PCs luck. If you make the luck roll the stimpak/pistol/ammo is there, if not it gets deleted from the cell never to return.

This mod reduces the amount of Hand Placed Loot items found in Fallout 3 based on the players luck. Currently it only replaces Medical Items, Schematic Weapon Components, Ammo, Explosives, Food, Drinks and Weapons. How rare those items are is entirely up to you as the player. When you load this mod you'll get an item in your aid inventory called <savage wasteland>, selecting this item brings up the ingame configuration menu. For Ammo, Drinks, Food, Junk, Meds and Explosives you can set the rarity from 0% per point of Luck (This will remove all hand placed items of the type from the game) to 10% per point of luck in 0.5% increments. For Guns and Melee you get the same rarity options but you also get the option to change how the game determines the health of hand placed weapons in the game. The options are Game Design (these are the vanilla values) Weapon skill, Repair Skill and Chance. You can choose any one of these to be the determining factor or any combination of the four. Each has the option of being a Major Factor, Contributing Factor, Minor Factor or None, play with the settings to see what works for you.

Installation
UnRar files
Choose the esp files that you want and put them into data folder
Open FOMM and check the appropiate Savage Wasteland boxes
Play Fallout

Compatability
Fewer Gun Wielding Maniacs changes only the spawn lists it should be compatable with any of the numerous mods that alter leveled lists, you should not lose any loot items that come from other mods. Unfound Loot changes the hand placed items in the game it will not be compatable with any of the numerous mods that alter the same items. If you have any mods that add hand placed items in the game, those items will be unaffected by Savage Wasteland. If you have any mods that remove the hand placed items in the game load them before Savage wasteland.
</savage>
