About this mod

I am classifying this as a new mod because ..well it is so vastly different from the old one, this is not an update to the old genetically modified miniature mirelurks as they are incompatible. Please rate thank you. Well, it seems Moira Brown has been at it again with her concotions and tests, having gotten hold of Dr Lesko\'s formula notes an

Note, the New Improved Lurks Update fix is the original file that places the tank where the bobblehead machine was, with the bobblehead machine moved sideways along with the workbench, see images.

I've added two more esp's, a corner tank, this will place the tank in the corner by the door, and an upstairs tank, this will place the tank where the nukavending machine was if you had purchased it, you will now find that in the bedroom, do NOT use all three esp's you will just end up with the last one to load taking priority.
Sorry I forgot to provide a readme with these two but the instructions are in the description, I will provide a seperate readme later.

Changes
No more navmesh island, the tank navmesh is now connected to the main navmesh in both the megaton home and tenpenny suite, for this reason I have placed tall collision box above the tanks, there should be enough space between the top of the tank and the bottom of the collision box for you to place your own stuff on top of the tank but not enough space for creatures and NPC's, because there is no more navmesh island any NPC's you have in the house will no longer try to take a swim in the lurk tank, this however might manifest a problem with the lurks having so much freedom, I've not had the problem myself and the lurks do appear to stay contained within the tank, if you notice they are out of the tank, then leaving the cell and returning should fix this, note that I cannot do much about it as I'm cramming creature AI's into a space smaller than they like, that's down to the game engine, but I have put a check in place to reduce how often this might happen in the form of a trigger box wrapped around the tank.

It's the same file name, let it overwrite the old one and you should be able to continue where you left off.

This version now has lurk tanks for both the Megaton home and the Tenpenny player suite, and they come with a lot more features!

Instructions for install
1. first if you have my old miniature mirelurks installed then remove it, while I did manage to have both running I'm not supporting it, I also found it possible to have both new tanks in my megaton home and the tenpenny player suite at the same time, but again I will not support this as the scripts share global variables and will most likely interfere with each other, besides, I think you will have enough responsibility taking care of one tank ;-)
2. Extract Lurktank_V2.esp to your Fallout 3 DATA folder, then using FOMM or the launcher select it.
3. Load your game and head over to Craterside supply, you will see a new computer towards the rear left side of the shop, this computer is public and contains information regarding lurk care, at the very rear of the shop you will see a demonstration(display only) tank with a newly hatched lurk and a fully grown(as in miniature fully grown) lurk.
4. Purchase your tank from Moira along with a Genetically modified mirelurk egg and/or a Genetically modified Nukalurk egg.
5. Head over to your megaton home and on entering the tank will be removed from your inventory and you should see it appear where the bobblehead machine used to be, the bobblehead machine and workbench have been moved sideways towards the corner near that old locker.
6. Head over to the tank, on the lid center you will see a button, click this and the inventory list will open up, move your eggs and at least 1 packet of potato crisps from your inventory list to the tank list, on closing the eggs will appear near the left rear of the tank,
7. Patience, it can take from 2 to 5 in game hours for the eggs to hatch and it's likely they will not hatch at the same time
8. They need to be fed, I'm not going to make this too easy, so they have a special diet, only potato crisps will sustain them, 1 packet will sustain them for 3 in game days, 2 packets will sustain them for 5 in game days, note, do not put in two packets and then put in one packet, this will cause it to reset back to 3 days even if they still have 5 days left
9. They do breed, once they have reached full maturity which takes about 7 in game days they will lay their first egg, again this egg will take from 2 in game hours to 5 in game hours to hatch, now this is where it becomes very important to feed them, if you fail to feed the lurks in time, the adults will kill and eat the young lurk, this will sustain them for another 2 in game days, if the adults survive long enough after this(meaning you continue to feed them) they will lay another egg, but this can take anywhere from 2 in game days to 7 in game days to happen.
10. Would you like to influence what is born from the egg your lurks lay?, of course you would and I've made this possible, to do this you must place in the tank either Nukacola Ordinary or Nukacola Quantum before the egg is laid, using Nukacola Ordinary will produce a Mirelurk, using Nukacola Quantum will produce, yes you guessed it, a Nukalurk!, if no Nuka of any type is placed in the tank then it's purely random the type of lurk that's born.
11. Health, your lurks may become sick, this can be noticed if they remain hovering in one location for a length of time, adding one stimpak to the tank will cure them, do not add more than one, the excess will be lost!
They grow
Initially you will see very small eggs, much smaller than my original lurk esp, from these are born very tiny lurks, but they will grow over the next 7 in game days until reaching full maturity, thats the size you see in my earlier version, however the one that comes from the egg these lay does not, it will grow but will never reach the same size as the adults, it will always remain slightly smaller, this was done to distinguish it from the adults.

For Tenpenny users the instructions are much the same, head over to Boutique le Chic, you will not see the tank display in the shop only a new computer terminal with lurk information, the reason for this is because it's a large cell that already loads and renders a great deal of objects.

To everyone, check out the tank decorations, there are 14 in all to be collected, only one instance per toy will appear in the tank, if your vendor does not have a tank decoration in the list wait for the cell refresh, the decorations all begin with "Tank Decor" followed by the name, the bad news is you have to put up with my placement of the decorations in the tank, since the toys consist of static objects it's just not possible for me to give you the option of where to place them.

A note on the static Decor, some of these are objects taken from the wasteland and scaled greatly down in size, but it must be kept in mind they still have the same number of poly's and the same textures, I did not have performance issues with my 9600GT graphics card but having all the decorations in your tank might slow rendering, the good news is the toys can be placed and removed at will, they are also items that can be sold.

Survival aspect, as noted by the adult lurks surviving by eating the young I've added survival as an aspect, the lurks can be removed from the tank while still alive and used as food or sold, note, removing healthy lurks kills them, so be sure this is what you want to do!, if they die as a result of you not feeding them, then dead lurks will appear in the tank inventory, again these can be removed and eaten or sold but have less value.

Boolean logic knows no mercy: if you fail to feed your lurks in time they all die!, but taking care of them means you can have up to 3 lurks at the same time in the tank.

A list of the tank decorations that can be purchased

5 boats
1 Clean car
1 wrecked car
1 Windmill
1 Television
1 Tombstone
1 Skull
1 Sentry bot
1 Mannequin
1 Hula Girl doll
All will begin with the words Tank Decor in the inventory list

All vendors should have the eggs and toys but I've placed them in the random section, so don't expect them all to appear at once, initially the tank and both egg types should be listed, after that it's down to the vendor having them in.

You wanted a story, some connection, some reason for these things to exist?
Well I've given a tenous story, but I'm not a story teller nor can I write stories, but the information on the new computer terminals will provide a connection to the FO3 universe, for the rest I suggest using your imagination.

Patience is a virtue
I've introduced time elements to this and for the most part random time, so don't expect your lurks to come bursting out of the eggs the moment you place them in the tank, I wanted to get as much of natures ways into this theme as possible and nature does things in it's own sweet time.

Technical
Tested with patch 1.5 and found no problems
I have spent the last couple of days debugging this(it was so sad to see the young lurk getting eaten all the time) and so far I've had no issues with this, but there is a complex script involved(at least complex to me), so I will be looking for any bug reports from the community, your lurk dying from lack of food is NOT a bug report!, if I've missed an obvious bug I'm sure one of you will point it out to me ;-)
Performance
As already mentioned there might be performance issues with having all the toys in the tank due to the high poly count and render times, but this did not cause me any issues
The entire main GameMode section of the script is only called once per second(think of it as the lurks heartbeat) to do house keeping and checks so this should present no one with any performance issues

Will there be a V3?
Oh geeze, I dunno, if my hair grows back quick enough, maybe ;-)

If there is not enough information here for you, please feel free to ask questions.

Please please rate, this is not ego, but I do feel I deserve a rating after chewing off my ankle and popping several hundred packs of bubblewrap.

I would also like to thank Cipscis, TheTalkieToaster, old_andy, WillieSea and many others for their invaluable hints, tips and help.
