About this mod

This is a \'hotfix\' to correct the VATS damage done by the Gauss Rifle. Extensive testing proved that the rifle did accurate damage when fired normally, but did 95.42% of the expected regular damage for every single shot in VATS - head shots, limb shots, torso shots, critical hits, sneak attack critical hits. Always. This fixes that!

Description
===========
This is a 'hotfix' to correct the VATS damage done by the Gauss Rifle. Extensive testing proved that the rifle did accurate damage when fired normally, but did 95.42% of the expected regular damage for every single shot in VATS - head shots, limb shots, torso shots, critical hits, sneak attack critical hits. Always. This fixes that!

Details
=======
The original Gauss rifle causes a small explosion on impact. Unfortunately, this screws up the VATS formula big time. Every single hit, regardless of location or critical status, will do just 95.42% of the listed ingame 'DAM'.

Example from my char (90% weapon condition, 100 energy weapons skill) - 90 listed damage:
Sneak attack critical to the head:
free hand: 560 damage
VATS mode: 85.72 damage (95.42% of listed damage, 15.3% of what the non-bugged version would do)

This fixes it by removing entirely the little 'explosion' graphic. The weapon now does proper damage under all circumstances (that I have tested...) and makes the same noises/has the same visuals, except for the small blast. A low price to pay for a working as intended gun!

Install
=======
1. Copy the .esp file to (install folder)\Fallout 3\Data\
2. Start Fallout Launcher, click 'Data Files', place a checkmark beside the .esp file(s).

***IMPORTANT*** The following instructions, from fallout.wikia.com, may be necessary for the mod to function with the Operation: Anchorage DLC

"While Games for Windows Live requires you to be online to in order to play Operation: Anchorage, you can find the DLC files (a main .bsa, a sounds .bsa, and an .esm) in the following folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC (Windows XP) C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC (Windows Vista) If you move them to your Fallout 3\Data folder, you will be able to play the DLC without activating Games for Windows Live.

Remember to click on "Data Files" and check the box next to "Anchorage" before loading the game. Keep in mind that this workaround is not officially supported. "

Uninstall
=========
1. Start Fallout Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the .esp file(s).
2. Delete the .esp file from \Fallout 3\Data\

Incompatibility
===============
This might conflict with other gauss rifle mods, but it actually might not. All this mod does is un-check a single checkbox related to the projectile (DLC02GaussProjectile) - so it will actually function with anybobody attempting to mod the base gun. Just put it late in the load order to be safe!

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
*Obviously, there's no explosion. It actually impacts the same way a bullet would - which makes a certain amount of sense, but I'll look into getting some splash animation that DOESN'T destroy its vats damage.
