~About~

This is primarily an adventure/exploration mod. This mod adds seventeen new interconnected interiors to explore, filling out some of the boarded-up buildings in Dupont Circle, Georgetown, near Farragut West Station, and Arlington South. Within these areas, you will face darkness, death, and the haunting histories of the dying. All seventeen interiors are fully navmeshed and companion friendly. You may want some company, as many of these interiors are very dark by design.

Locations in this mod are based on a few real-word locations, generally where they should be in the DC area.

When you enter the game, wait for a few seconds, and the mod will get you started with a pop-up message. From there, you will fight your way through an underground labyrinth to determine the fate of Vault 71 and its inhabitants, while uncovering the story of a conflicted agent of the Enclave, who is haunted by his past. There are many ways to play through the mod, but I recommend you just get out there and explore!

I have tried to make this mod interactive, intriguing, and engaging on an intellectual level. There are no new lines of dialogue, but I used what's already in the game so for the few characters that do have dialogue, they will have voiceovers. Also, there are no quests/markers. I have little experience in those two areas.

This mod uses work by other modders with their permission per the credits below.

Hints for gameplay are found in the readme file enclosed with the mod.

~Features~

17 new interiors including 1 new town;
5 new weapons (including 3 new textures);
10 new articles of clothing (all of which have new textures);
5 new map markers;
2 new factions; and
2 new intertwined stories of anguish, suffering and pain.

It takes me a little over an hour to run through the mod, at breakneck speed and knowing exactly what's around each corner. If you read every note and take your time, there's probably 2-3 hours of gameplay here.

There is a fair amount of reading in this mod. If you want to call "tl; dr" on me, that's fine. Most of it you can skip if the story doesn't interest you. However, you only get out of the mod what you put into it.

~Compatibility~

I have playtested this mod thoroughly, but as every system and load order is different, I cannot guarantee 100% compatibility with every mod out there. I do know this mod works very well with the following popular mods:

Fallout Wanderer's Edition 6.03;
Mart's Mutant Mod 6.0;
Enhanced Weather;
DC Interiors;
Existence 2.0;
Shadows and Dust Volume 1, of course; and
And many more in my load order.

WARNING: I have been advised that Undiscovered Capital conflicts with this mod. I will not be releasing a compatibility mod. I recommend getting into Townsend & Associates and finding one of the exits so you can get in and out before starting Undiscovered Capital. If you started Undiscovered Capital first, go into Dupont Station and use the 'unlock' console command on the access there to start.

A version that is compatible with RH_IronSights is now available in the optional files. Use this ESP instead of the base version to make the Autoplas Rifle IronSight compatible. This version requires you to have RH_IronSights installed. The two versions are mutually exclusive ESPs, so don't load both of them at the same time.

~Required and Recommended~

No DLC are required.

No other mods are required, this mod contains everything you need.

If the vanilla railway rifle sound annoys you, try the cropped sound effect found here: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/49

If your system is getting bogged down, I recommend entering console every once in a while and typing "pcb" (purge cell buffer) to speed things up. You can also try Game Booster, it's available for free until June 30th. Go to http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html. It speeds up my system quite well.

A thanks also goes out to Puce Moose, whose mods have been an excellent resource for inspiration and learning the art of scripting.

Finally, thanks are due to Bethesda for creating FO3, and to the Fo3 Nexus Community for sharing their experience and knowledge on the forums.

~Install and Uninstall~

Install: Copy the desired .esp to your Fallout 3 Data folder, and merge the 'Meshes' and 'Textures' folders with their appropriate counterparts in the Fallout 3 Data folder. Check the Shadows and Dust V2 box in FOMM or Data Manager. I recommend you run Fallout Edit and create a merged patch, but it is not required.

Uninstall: Delete the installed .esp and the Shadows and Dust folders in 'Meshes' and 'Textures'.

~Update and Changelog~

V1.1 is the same mod, with some general fixes for bugs reported on the comments board. I recommend you uninstall the old version (1.0) including the textures and meshes folders, and install the new V1.1 with the new textures and meshes folders. Fixes include:

-Rerevolutionary uniforms should now show properly after a filepath fix.
-Rerevolutionary Soldier spelling is now correct.
-Normals should be added to the new uniforms.
-Fixed infinite xp exploit for Vault 71 reactor vent.
-Various small fixes to help the mod along.
