About this mod

The knife that thinks it\'s a hatchet

Permissions and credits
In Nepal, there is a group of well-trained, disciplined soldiers known as the Gurkha. They predate western colonialism in the region, and were of interest to the British Empire as a "martial race". They served the empire with distinction, even during World War II.

One of their most distinct pieces of typical apparel, aside from the side-cocked hat, is a special blade they carry, called a Kukri. Useful for both utility and in hand-to-hand combat, the Kukri basically behaves like a cross between a knife and an axe, thanks to its distinct forward curve. It is prodigiously powerful in swinging, lending itself for chopping through brush, through your next meal's meat course.... or through a foe.Modern day Gurkhas, despite wielding modern firearms, still all carry a Kukri as a symbol of their membership.

The blade isn't actually a sword, but a heavy knife. Its forward-curved blade focuses the force of the swing in a way similar to a hatchet.

This mod provides two Kukris in the Nepalese style, located inside a display case within Gillian House in Minefield. They're constructed in the traditional Nepalese style, with Fallout-styled blade embellishments. One for you, one for a companion.

In-game, the Kukri is quite a potent weapon. It has a 4.5x limb damage multiplier, and a 4x crit chance multiplier, on top of fairly decent normal damage. Watch the limbs fly!

MODIFICATION v1.01:
I modified the mesh to have a thicker blade after studying just how thick the blade is in this Youtube video.

I also smoothed out the back of the blade. Had to add more geometry to avoid some nasty phong smoothing artifacts, but ahwell.

Screenies of the thicker blade in the pics.

MODIFICATION v1.02:
Fixed some screwy havok physics behavior, partly by altering the havok mesh geometry, partly by tweeking some physics values in the model. Also changed the enviro reflection maps to be independent of directional lighting, since the vast majority of interior cells lack it. It should be shiny all the time now.
