Using this mod should prevent the bug from occurring in the first place as well as fixing things after they have gone bad.

This mod will fix the bug where Charon and Ahzrukhal get stuck and the player can no longer talk to them to complete the quest. The bug starts when the player has the contract and talks to Charon while Ahzrukhal is sleeping. After the player conversation Charon tells the player to wait, then he goes to Ahzrukhal. Once Charon gets near Ahzrukhal if the player moves past them the dialogue between them stops, and the bug starts.

This mod will reset a variable required to allow the player to talk to Charon. He will use the same topics that he used when the player first talks to him with the contract in their posession, then the conversation between Charon and Ahzrukhal should proceed as intended even if the player walks by them.

Bugs

The dialogue between Charon and Ahzrukhal seems to be bugged. Charon tells Ahzrukhal that he understands Ahzrukhal no longer holds his contract. Then Ahzrukhal should say something to the effect of "So did you come to say goodbye?" to which Charon replys yes. For some reason Ahzrukhal line is never spoken and it may be that the developers forgot to include the voice file, or it is named improperly. In any event it's a game bug not to do with this mod.

installation

Put the CharonHireFix.esp in the Fallout 3 Data folder. Select the CharonHireFix.esp in the data files section, and launch the game. Once you have Charon as a companion you can remove this mod.
