Description:
===============

Crystal started out as your ordinary NPC in another mod I am working on, and---as part of my learning curve--- soon took on a life of her own. She hated life in the vault and longed for the adventure outside. She was finally able to convince her family and friends to help her start a new life outside. Thus, Crystal and her compound were born.

************* Please make sure you install the right version of Crystal---If you DO NOT have the Hairpack.ESM By YoshikinaKota installed (see below) and you install Crystal V1_0, you WILL crash to desktop. Please install Crystal V1_0 No Hairpack to avoid this! *********

Details:

Crystal is a fully functioning companion who can stand alone without the need for an additional companion mod. She has a lot of vanilla-voiced dialogue and customizable options. She also has many one-of-a-kind items that are included. I realize that there are many mods out that may have similiar looking re-textures, but----as part of this learning curve---I have created my own re-textures. All of her clothing and weapons have been redone.

New clothing: Black Leather Armor, Combat Armor, Enclave Officer Outfit, Blue Nightie, and White Nightie. All armors have the same stats as the "unique" armors. A complete set of these outfits for the player is in the bunkhouse. The male versions have not been re-textured and are still the vanilla outfits.

New weapons: Crystal takes great pride in the excellent condition of her weapons. She has cleaned-up and refurbished versions of the Combat Knife, Chinese Officer Sword, 10mm Submachine Gun, Assault Rifle, and Combat Shotgun. All weapons have the stats of the "unique" vanilla weapons, and a full set is available for the player to use.

Crystal's features are as follows:

(1) Her own hairstyle and eyes are self-contained.
(2) I decided not to give her a nude body replacer because there are simply too many great ones out there. I will let you chose one if you so desire.
(3) You can set her up for the following: Essential (Yes or No), Bravery/confidence Level, Follow Distance, Combat Style, Change Home, Wait, Relax, Guard, Go Home, Summoning Hat (in case she gets lost, or...?), as well as change her weapons and clothes via dialogue. Her tag skills are Small Arms, Sneak and Repair.
(4) She can repair your items, and give you a new hairstyle (styles in addition to the vanilla ones depend on what hair mods you have installed--see requirements below).
(5) She should level to 30 with you and will self-heal out of combat.

The Compound features the following:

(1) Bunkhouse/Armory with plenty of storage, bobblehead display, respawning ammo supply, new (re-textured) wall paneling, new framed paintings (re-textured versions of my own photography), carpets, jukebox, safe and more.
(2) A refurbished bus with additional bunk/hangout space for companions.
(3) An outdoor area with a medical trailer, workbench, kitchen area and more.
(4) All areas have rooftop access including a crows-nest up on the Red Rocket.
(5) There is also a picnic/campfire area and a shooting range that is available from the roof of the bunkhouse.
(6) All areas are fully navameshed, have lots of idlemarkers and are companion friendly.

Crystal and Her Compound can be found at the large Red Rocket located just to the southwest of Big Town (the other side of the road from the junkyard). A map marker will be available on your pipboy.

Want a larger and more upscale compound for your base? Grab Crystal then check out my new mod 'Enclave Hideout' found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13982

All comments/criticisms are welcome, but since this is my first mod of any kind, please keep it constructive! ;) Any modders who wish to use any of my re-textures, etc. have my permission to do so. It would be nice to get a credit and a link to your mod so that I may see how you used them.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy her. If you do, endorsements are appreciated.

Possible Upgrades:
===============

At this time I am working on finishing her backstory, and I hope to tie her into the other mod I am working on. Some of her backstory is available thru dialogue while more can be found on her computer. While she is still a WIP, she is fully playable and not a "Beta".

===============
Requirements:
===============

There are 2 versions of Crystal available: Version V1.0 requires
HairPack by YoshikinaKota: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1146
If you do not have or want to install the hairpack then please download Version V1.0 No Hairpack.
Fallout 3 Patch 1.7
Not Required, but highly recommended:

ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944

===============
Install:
===============

1. Extract the files from the zip. (FOMM recommended---ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated recommended)
2. If manually installing, copy files to (your installion folder)\Fallout3\Data\
3. Start Fallout 3 Launcher, click 'Data Files', place a checkmark beside the Crystal.esp file.
4. If using FOMM, check the Crystal.esp file in your load order list.

===============
Un-Install:
===============

1. Uncheck the Crystal.esp file in FOMM or Data
2. Delete the Crystal files/folders from the following locations:
Data\Crystal.esp
Data\textures\Crystal
Data\meshes\Crystal
Data\Sound\Voice\Crystal

===============
Compatibility:
===============

Crystal should be compatible with most normal, companion friendly mods/environments. Keep her out of Vault87a as most companions will cause issues there (she should automatically fire herself and go home to her homemarker, but this has not been tested yet). Compatibility with the DLC's is unknown as I have not played them myself yet.
The compound will not be compatible with any mod that modifies the Red Rocket area in Big Town.
If conflicts should arise, try changing the load orders of the conflicting mods.

===============
Bugs/Issues:
===============

If you do not install the correct version of Crystal as stated in requirements, you may experience a CTD on startup and need to download the optional file.

If you have both the 'Malika the Gypsy Companion' and SCC Companions installed, make sure that Crystal is installed last in the load order or dialogue conflicts may arise.

If you have not done the Main Radio Station Quest and repaired the antenna, none of the radios/jukebox will receive the GNR radio signal.

There is some grass poking thru the flooring in the bus and other places which I have not been able to remove. Looks strange, but doesn't affect gameplay in any way.

There is no collision geometry for the walls of the bus and it is possible to walk thru the walls in places---your companions should be fine as the navamesh should keep them from doing this.

No other known issues so far, but please let me know if you find any.

Lots of thanks to give to all the excellent modders on the Nexus whose work I have admired and dissected for many of the ideas and lessons I've learned so far.

Special thanks to the following:

and his FO3Edit tutorial is a must have: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8629

Loxy38 for the great Jessi and Kelsey companions which are teaching me a great deal about how to properly build a companion. Jessi can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2732 , and Kelsey is here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4473

wogz187 for the 187Gurlz (Sasha) companion found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2418 , and the companion tutorial which gave me a lot of insight on how to build a companion. The tutorial is at SCC Companions (in the files section): http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2399

pkleiss for the Dialogue and Quest tutorial, and for the help on the Bethesda Forums. The tutorial is here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12163

Cipscis for the Scripting For Beginners found on his website here: http://www.cipscis.com/fallout/tutorials/beginners.aspx , and on the Geck Wiki. I knew/know squat about scripting and his tutorial got me off to a decent start---although I am still just learning to crawl.

Thanks to Bethesda for creating Fallout 3 and to all the people who have helped build the GECK wiki---especially the 'My First Vault' Tutorial--- which I continue to learn from.
