THE OLYMPUS
In a grueling five day trial in the Olympus officers' meeting room, Jabsco and two of his surviving captains were found guilty of several war crimes, including the murder of one hundred and fifty civilians during the Battle of Megaton, as well as several rapes committed by the mercenaries under their command, and the execution of three prisoners of war and the rape of a prisoner of war during the Battle of Fort Bannister. The mercenaries who committed those acts were also convicted and shared the same sentence as their superiors: execution by firing squad. Evidence used to determine the guilt of the mercenaries included eyewitness reports of their victims from attacks before the Talon War and records found within Fort Bannister itself.
That evidence was also used to allow a more lenient ten year prison sentence, with time off for good behavior, on the Talon captain Josephus and the men under his command. It was proven that outside of the killing of a Brotherhood of Steel Paladin in single combat for his armor (a requisite for being appointed a captain) and the deaths of civilians caught in the cross-fire, his fifteen year career as a mercenary had been spent fighting Super Mutants.
When attempting to defend himself, Jabsco's last remark, stated while looking Commodore William Harkin in the eye, was the retelling of an anecdote first recounted by Saint Augustine. "In ancient Greece, a pirate was caught and brought before Alexander the Great. In a great rage, Alexander demanded of him, 'How dare you molest the seas!' To which the pirate responded, 'How dare you molest the world! Because I do it with a small ship only, I am called a pirate while you, doing it with a great fleet, are called emperor.'" Jabsco refused to comment further, only keeping a smug look on his face over Harkin's reaction.
The executions will take place on September 22 inside Megaton. The condemned are to be allowed anesthetic, if they choose, to make it painless.

Yes, that's a reference to "The Greyhound." It appears Rose let Jabsco in on it, though not likely the whole thing. Good reason for Talon to believe the TSC is still the Enclave beneath the "smiles and sunshine," as that merc said at Megaton.
