FORT BANNISTER
The TSC suffered its first failure in the Talon War this afternoon when a team of a dozen stealth commandos were caught attempting to sneak into the fort and sabotage the food and water supplies as a means of vastly shortening the siege. The one survivor, beaten to an inch of her life, was thrown out of the fort along with the bodies of the other commandos and retrieved during a cease-fire called for the gathering of the dead.
During the brief moments of lucidity from the commando, it was revealed that Talon had trained their weapons towards the entrances when the shelling stopped to allow the commandos to pass through without being flattened by their own side's guns. The moment the doors opened, Talon forces opened fire. Only two commandos, the ones who picked the locks and opened the doors, were killed at that moment. The rest slipped in after Talon went to close the door. They had made it halfway towards the supply cache when a sharp-eyed mercenary spotted the ripple of a stealth field and shot at it, killing the commando and raising the alarms in the entire fort. Only four of the original twelve made it to the supply cache where they were caught trying to silence the guards. Though they killed seven of the eight guards silently through dual-wielding combat knives, one guard managed to dodge and fired several wild shots before he was killed, drawing the attention of the rest of the fort. There, the commandos were subdued and three of them executed, the last brutally beaten.
The Commander was visibly shaken over the failure of the plan, even through the armor. Only after Lieutenant Fawkes ordered the continuing fire of artillery did the Commander regain composure and formulate a new plan of attack. When asked by the Olympus Circular, the only response was a vague answer of "favors being called in." One Marine, speaking on condition of anonymity, mentioned that they were being issued shovels but cannot say any more.

Thanks. I wanted to give Talon Company at least one bit of success in this war. Incidentally, I was going to imply or outright say the surviving commando was raped but I didn't feel comfortable doing it. Even writing it as "the last brutally beaten and forced to engage in acts that the Olympus Circular will not recount" felt wrong.

Shovels? Calling in favors? I'm intrigued.
