MUSEUM OF HISTORY - This morning, a massive assault by Talon Company on the Ghoul settlement of Underworld was turned into what could only be described as a completely one-sided battle in favor of the TSC Marines. At 8:00 AM, sixty mercenaries of Talon Company entered the Museum Station from the Museum of Technology side as to avoid slogging through the Super Mutants on the surface. There, they ran into a patrol of TSC Marines on their way to Rivet City. As they were outnumbered more than six to one, the Marines were forced into a fighting retreat, losing three of their squad and killing an equal number in return. As they were pursued by Talon forces, a pair of Paladins of Lyons' Brotherhood of Steel came to the rescue, laying down suppressive fire with their Gatling lasers until reinforcements arrived. By the time the commander of the Talon forces rallied his men into charging through by rolling a grenade behind them, the entirety of 5th Platoon of Bravo Company began arriving through the teleporter. Though they forced the Paladins to back up and some managed to get to the top of the stairs, they could not overcome the sheer volume of lead and lasers 5th Platoon and the Brotherhood poured down on them in their choke point. After a few minutes of the massacre, on top of the death of their commander in the charge, the surviving fifth of Talon forces laid down their weapons and surrendered. The only non-Talon deaths were the three Marines killed at the beginning of the battle and Willow, the longtime sentry of the Ghouls of Underworld. She was buried outside the museum she stood guard over for over two hundred years.

This. As for population, I'll quote what I said to devilman1975:
"As for Megaton's population, I'm doing this with Attentator's Wasteland Economy in mind. That and I think Megaton is much larger than is represented in-game. In Fallout 2, NCR was fairly small but the Vault City travel log stated its population was in the tens of thousands. I was under the assumption something similar was going on here with Megaton. My estimate for Megaton's population is somewhere around 1000-2000 people. My estimate for Rivet City is between 3000-5000 people. Underworld is in the low hundreds. Same with Tenpenny Tower. The Republic of Dave, Arefu, and Big Town stay the same, though."
EDIT: Canterbury Commons would also be a bit bigger but still be at most 100 people.

It was even worse at Megaton. Though six TSC Marines died, there were around 150 civilians killed, among them Billy Creel, Manya and Nathan Vargas, Walter, and Maya. Confessor Cromwell survived but threw himself in the Potomac a few days later. Wadsworth, Deputy Steel, and Deputy Weld all got destroyed. Moriarty only got a broken nose and Stockholm lost a leg.

Willow bit the dust? d@mit, I hope someone wrote down or recorded her story. Pre-war ghouls are living history books.

I hope that teaches Talon Company not to mess with TSC!
