Starting Training with a Clang

True to Sir Silas' words, training began at the crack of dawn with dueling practice. If there was anything Squire Allison was not very proficient at, it was this. The vast majority of her experience with melee weapons involved ambushes and sneak attacks and did little to no close combat face to face. For both people this was the very reason training existed in the first place.

Over the weeks, student and teacher went through the forms and practiced proper dueling etiquette. It was not uncommon for knights to fight each other for various reasons, but certain rules applied:

I. All duels must be agreed upon by both parties.
II. No guns may be used in a duel.
III. No knight may challenge a squire for any reason.
IV. No squire may challenge a knight or squire for any reason.
V. No duel may be to the death.

The sounds of blade meeting blade were followed closely by a number of peasants getting ready for their day. If any of them were annoyed by waking up to such a noise, they wisely kept their feelings to themselves.
